It’s official, we’re taking part in the world’s toughest rowing race.

Team Not Today TWAC 2023

I was on a date last weekend and caught myself talking probably a little too much about my upcoming adventure.

You know, it isn’t exactly easy to shut up about the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge. 3000 miles or 4800 kilometres of relentless rowing in a space as tiny as your dining table for up to 60 days. We’ll be leaving La Gomera in the Canary Islands on 12 December 2023 and will get off the boat in Antigua in the Caribbean. Madness. But I’m here for it!

A lot has happened since Janik and I committed to the challenge of a lifetime. Every day I learn something new about it and honestly knowing more about what we have signed up for does not reduce the nervousness. The whole thing is pretty wild.

Here is one of my journal entries from earlier this year:

31 January 2021

I have done it.

I have signed up for the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.

It has been on my mind for so long. It has been on my vision board for so long.

(…)I can’t wait to get to work. Life is short. I want to show the people that no dream, no idea, no passion is unachievable. The best day to start pursuing that one thing is today.

I still have the same if not more excitement for the row. I can’t wait for what’s to come.

Danny
